About FNCCD & Our Programs

Organizational Background

FNCCD is a nonprofit organisation established in 1998. It was officially registered as an NPO in 2001. Initially called Far North Health Care Centre, it was a peer education project for creating awareness through campaigns and workshops on HIV and AIDS and other social and health issues.

We began our work at Tswinga and Muledane villages in Vhembe district, Thulamela municipality, but have now expanded into Makhado local municipality. Apart from working in Vhembe district, we have also expanded our Psycho-social support initiatives into Sekhukhune, Capricorn, Waterberg and Mopani districts of Limpopo Province.

Over the years, our organisation has transformed and expanded its focus to include other socio-economic and development issues and challenges that communities of Limpopo province are facing. Besides HIV and AIDS, we have also included other terminal illness into our community and home based care program. We have also developed and implemented a child and youth care development programe. Additional information include capacity building of local CBOs and NGOs in the Province and the promotion of Self-help groups to address socio economic issues faced by vulnerable household and communities.
